My story

My name is Camille France, and I founded Desert Quail Therapy to blend my passions for movement, inclusion, and the great outdoors. Connecting with nature, discovering new ways to move my body, and being part of a supportive group have been transformative for me, and I wanted to share that with others.

In 2007, I suffered a spinal cord injury that allowed me to experience the world from a patient’s perspective. This journey exposed me to various treatments and therapies firsthand. Thanks to Kathy Hinderer, I got back on a horse and rediscovered movement. Lucille Palancher, Walk the Line, and Jackie Kilburn showed me the joy of using my body again. These experiences gave me deep insights into pain relief, positioning, activity modification, equipment use, and the dynamic nature of the human nervous system.

Inspired by these experiences, I pursued a career in occupational therapy. My journey began in Michigan, where I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a master’s degree in occupational therapy in 2015. After completing internships in Michigan and Maryland, I moved to San Diego and worked as an OT for two years. In 2017, I made Tucson my home. Throughout my career, I have worked and volunteered in various settings, including homes, clinics, nursing homes, inpatient facilities, group homes, schools, and riding facilities. I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages and abilities, from infants to seniors.

Planning inclusive events that help people of all abilities connect with nature and one another is my passion. I have seen how combining an individual’s interests with a connection to the natural world can lead to significant functional gains. I have received additional training in kinesiotaping, reflex integration, hippotherapy, restorative postures, myofascial release, and functional movement analysis.

I am a proud member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the American Hippotherapy Association, and I am a licensed occupational therapist in Arizona. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy exploring sustainable living, cooking, and embarking on adventures with my husband and three children.

I look forward to continuing this journey with you and helping others find their path to healing and connection.
